Multifaith Day of Service Book Donation Appreciation

The book donations from Shinnyo-en USA Head Temple were part of the multifatih efforts to bring the joy of reading to the elementary school children in Redwood City on 1/18/2016.

It was one small, but concrete way to pave a path toward a future of hope in the local community.  BIG APPRECIATION for your support!!!

San Mateo Bridge Closures (Two weekends in May)

For those of you who use the San Mateo Bridge to come to the temple, the bridge will be completely closed on the following weekends:  

• Friday, 5/8 (10 pm) - Monday, 5/11 (5 am)
• Friday, 5/15 - Monday, 5/18 
• Friday, 5/22 (10 pm)  - Monday, 5/25 (5 am)

Also, San Francisco's annual "Bay to Breakers" marathon will be on Sunday, 5/17.  Please allow ample time to drive through the San Francisco area on that day.

Summer Job for Youths at YCS

Here is the information about 5 summer positions available for youths (college students or graduates) at the Youth Community Service (YCS).

YCS has been one of the Shinnyo-en Foundation's long-term grantees.  YCS programs engage youth in community service activities that promote increased awareness of the needs of their communities and the development of individual community service self-efficacy, and positive emotional and behavioral health.

The applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled.

Sunday, April 26 11am - Service Content Change

On the April schedule, it was noted the service on Sunday, April 4/26 will be "Taiwan Saisho-e and Lantern Floating."  However, due to the time constraints, 11am service will be showing the "Taiwan Saisho Homa" only.   The "Lantern Floating Ceremony" will be shown separately in the afternoon at 2pm in the Mandala Room. 

We sincerely appreciate your kind understanding on this change. 

April 26th (SUN) - Launching the Shinnyo-en Members Online Portal!

We will begin handing out Welcome Cards to the registered members who turned in the Member Particulars Update form before March 15^th.  

(*Some cards may be ready even if the form was submitted after the 15th. Please check at the office counter.)

With this Welcome card, members will be able to sign on to their profile and begin watching the new CG-DP Introductory lecture. There are plans in place to expand the use of this member portal in the near future. 

We ask that the Welcome cards be picked up by each individual. In case they are not able to come to the temple in the near future, we have instructions for them to access their profiles. Please inquire at the temple office.

We expect April 26th launch day to be very busy at the office counter. On this day, we would like to give priorities to members that are newly entering the Chiryugakuin Program.  If you have already graduated from Chiryugakuin and see a long line at the counter, please come back at a later time to get your Welcome card.

The lineage parent training on March 25 was originally listed as starting at 3:00pm.  The new starting time is 2:00pm.
